Join us for a guided, hands-on beekeeping demonstration led by our head beekeeper. Learn how a hive works, meet the bees up close (protective gear provided), and taste fresh honey straight from the comb. Free admission — advance registration required. Capacity is limited to 60 people per session.

Free Demo Days run on a 2-week schedule and typically end mid-August, as the bees become more defensive later in the season. Private Tours are generally available throughout the season.

1. Ontario Agri-Tourism Activities Act, 2016

Circling Hawk Farm is an agri-tourism operation operating pursuant to the Agri-Tourism Activities Act, 2016, S.O. 2016, c. 22, Sched. 1 (the “Act”). Under the Act, operators of agri-tourism activities are not liable for damages resulting from inherent risks of those activities. By registering for and attending this event, I acknowledge and agree that:

  • Agri-tourism activities involve inherent risks, including but not limited to uneven terrain, farm equipment, agricultural animals, and live bee colonies.
  • I am voluntarily participating in a live beekeeping demonstration and assume all inherent risks associated therewith.
  • Circling Hawk Farm (Gregg Scott and Michele Mihalik, collectively “the Farm”) is not liable for personal injury, property damage, or death arising from inherent risks, to the fullest extent permitted by the Act.

2. General Release & Waiver of Liability

In consideration of being permitted to attend the Beekeeping Demonstration at 13433 Leslie Street, Richmond Hill, Ontario, I (the registrant, and any minor(s) in my care) hereby release, waive, and discharge Circling Hawk Farm, its owners, employees, and agents from any and all claims, demands, or causes of action for personal injury, property damage, or loss arising from attendance, except where caused by the gross negligence or wilful misconduct of the Farm.

I confirm that I am 18 years of age or older, or that I am the parent or legal guardian of all minors included in this registration and have authority to execute this waiver on their behalf.

3. Beekeeping Demonstration — Specific Risks

I understand and accept the following risks specific to this activity:

  • Bee stings: Live honeybee colonies will be opened and handled during the demonstration. Bee stings are a foreseeable and inherent risk.
  • Allergic reactions: I acknowledge I am aware of any bee-sting allergy affecting myself or any member of my group. Persons with a known severe (anaphylactic) bee-sting allergy should not attend without carrying a prescribed epinephrine auto-injector (EpiPen®) and notifying Farm staff on arrival.
  • Protective equipment: The Farm will provide veils and gloves. I agree to wear all provided protective equipment as directed by Farm staff and to follow all safety instructions during the demonstration.
  • Children under 7: Due to the proximity to active hives and the importance of remaining still and calm, children under age 7 require heightened supervision and are limited to 2 per accompanying adult.

4. Live Animals on Property — Rottweilers & Bee Colonies

The Farm maintains 45 active honeybee colonies on-site (with additional colonies at remote apiary locations) and large working Rottweilers. These are working farm animals. Visitors must remain on designated pathways, follow all posted signage, and obey staff instructions at all times. I accept the inherent risk of proximity to honeybees and large working dogs.

5. No Pets Policy & Visitor Pet Liability

⚠ Pets and personal animals of any kind are strictly prohibited on all Farm property.

If you bring a pet onto the property, you are solely and fully responsible for its behaviour. The Farm accepts no liability whatsoever for injury to your animal, including veterinary costs, arising from any interaction with Farm animals, equipment, or terrain. You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Circling Hawk Farm against all claims arising from your animal’s actions on the property.

6. Governing Law

This waiver is governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force.
