Farm tours

Honey bee experience farm tours are generally offered from early June to late September. You can book during the off season but we won't open our hives. If you'd like to give a farm tour as a gift to someone special we have gift certificates available at the farm shop. Tours include a honey shop credit and are about 70 minutes in duration. All tours are guided by one of our experienced apiarists. Our tours are geared to adults; however, younger participants over 9 are welcomed. Topics covered with our honey bee experience tours include the following:

  • Tour of the main bee yard, mating yards, haskap orchards and horse paddocks
  • A discussion of the flowers & trees in bloom and what to plant in your garden to help bees
  • Beehive terminology & equipment
  • We'll open a live hive to see the types of bees and the queen (weather permitting)
  • Where to keep bees, and where not to keep them
  • Weekly care and pest & disease control for honey bees
  • A lesson on how honey is extracted and look in our honey extraction facility
  • Discussion of products from the hive
  • A honey tasting!
